Today’s message is about knowledge and welfare of the people.

Hindu dharma always prescribes a holistic view of life. Knowledge gained should always be used for the welfare of the people, be it science or spiritualism. Hindu way of life has science and spiritualism integrated in its lifestyle. Homams, yagnas, rituals, celebrations nitya karma is designed for the welfare of the people

for eg..

  1. Homas and yagnas were conducted for the society at large be it for rain, pandemic, prosperity etc it is for the society at large

  2. Ayurveda and siddha vaidya were to cure diseases of the population.

  3. Astronomy and astrology was for the people to understand their life on earth and the planet's influence on them.

  4. For self development, scriptures and Upanishads were prescribed to lead a peaceful life. They take you through different stages of development

  • Pracharaka - this is the first stage of our spiritual development. When we see or read something we want to share, sometimes even without digesting, reflecting and validating.

  • Saadhaka stage - after a while we move into this stage wherein we spread the knowledge after reflecting and digesting them in our own way. The knowledge gained here is growing and maturing with a greater sense of understanding.

  • Anubhava - Here the saadhaka is experiencing the essence of his/her understanding and it is a developmental perspective.

  • Anu Bhaava - this is the fourth stage which means understanding the secret of the anubhava or experience.

  • Mahanubhava - This is the final stage of mastery and a self realized perspective siddhars, yogis, rishis are the achievers of this stage.

  1. For moksha and mukti

  • The four ashramas of life were given to streamline one’s life.

  • Four yogas namely ; Karma yoga; bhakthi yoga; Raja yoga and jnana yoga.

  1. For individual lifestyle our hindu dharma prescribes the four purusharthas namely- artha (wealth); kama (desire); dharma (righteousness) and moksha (liberation)

This list is endless, so any knowledge that one acquires should be directed for self development to be a good citizen of the society we live in and it should be for the welfare of the people in the community and society.

When our thought process is directed towards this knowledge it makes us very beautiful like an ear stud for the face. We become the gem of the society. Today’s verse doesn’t prescribe for just one gem in the society but wants everyone to become the handful of gems for the society at large.
