Inspiration is the nectar from the divine

Today’s food for thought is :

"Inspiration is the amurtham from the divine

Despair is the poison thrown out by the self"

As I looked around me, there was only pain, suffering, covid deaths, nature’s fury and chaos around me, I felt more sadness than the willingness to move forward. I was scared to wake up to a new day, the morning news wasn’t encouraging in any way. The social media was filled with negativity, I wanted to go into a deep slumber and get up when all this is over can I? No it is a luxury, even if I wake up 5 mins late, the day engulfs me with work twice over, so what can I do? As I turned around Bala was smiling from the pooja room, that was my ‘wow’ moment. I started to look at everything from a different plane. So here is my thought process.

The first part of the statement is

Inspiration is the amurtham from the divine.

Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated. You may ask how this happens? Every incident in your life has ups and downs, how do you come out of it? Think, there has been a point of realisation, there has always been a trigger, this either comes from outside or from inside. For eg. say you are worried about someone being sick at home. You have tried many doctors, different medications, you think you are at a dead end, a verse appears on your whatsapp group, encouraging you that all is not lost, you again start off with a new energy isn’t it? This is divine inspiration from the outside. Ambal has inspired you to get up and move on. Take a another incident where you are bored with your office work, you want to quit or look for a new job you become physically tired unable to move an inch, you go to sleep thinking about it, suddenly you wake up in the middle of the night , you mind becomes clear, you think positively and you feel energised to do something new or continue work, why? because you have found a new way. This is internal inspiration, ambal has inspired you from the inside.

Now why do I say amurtham? Amurtham or the nectar falls or oozes in drops, so does inspiration. It is always short and pointed , sometimes we miss them because they are too small. We think it is our fantasy when it comes from the inside and think it is not for me when it comes from the outside. Hence I made the first statement inspiration doesn’t come in trucks, it comes in drops.

The second part of the statement is

Despair is the poison thrown out by the self

When we are in trouble, the first word that comes out of us is why only bad things happen only to me? What have I done? My life is in shambles, I don't see any way out of this? And the mutterings go on and on. Have you ever stopped yourself to think about why you say these things? It is desperation, frustration and pain that makes you talk and you will be looking for someone to blame for what went wrong. Remember whatever happens in your life is your doing, in the past and in the present; bad decisions, untimely acts, mismanagement and above all your karma of the past, others are a tool to facilitate the reaction, so look at the cause, instead of the tool. Hence I wrote despair is a poison, because despair destroys you and destroys everyone around you, so never let despair flow easily from you, instead remember to churn yourself, for the divine(ambal) to remove your despair or hopelessness and allow divine(ambal) to inspire you and bring peace and happiness in you and around you.
