The ultimate happiness

can be achieved through material and intellectual freedom

Many of us often wonder what it means to be happy leave alone the great word “Ultimate Happiness”

Let us discover what it means.

Happiness is an emotional state which is attained due to

  • Positive feeling

  • Life satisfaction

While the perception of happiness may be different but generally it comprises the two points mentioned above.

What are the signs of such happiness?

  • Feeling of achievement

  • Feeling comfortable with life

  • Feeling satisfied

  • Feeling fulfillment

If you take each of the cases they are all subjective and temporary.

for eg.

  • When you get your first job - a sense of achievement but disappears after sometime

  • When you get what you wanted immediately, if that happens regularly, then the happiness quotient changes to something else

  • After a favorite meal, a sense creeps in, but after some time you start craving

  • When your children are well settled with a good job, good families and good children, you experience a sense of fulfillment, but that also wanes after a while

DIL MAHENGE MORE...

Have you wondered why?

we all think and analyze when we are sad, not when we are happy, we want happiness to continue, but it doesn’t, why?

Here are a few of my analyses:

The happiness which I have mentioned above is either materialistic or intellectualistic or both.

We are so entangled in these two that sometimes we are not able to distinguish what is what, if we cannot separate the two then sustained happiness evades you isn’t it? So I would suggest we first look at sustained happiness.

Materialistic happiness has two goals

  • A pleasure to the senses

  • Social acknowledgment

We eat good food; we use fragrant perfume, we listen to soulful songs etc. These are all pleasure to the senses which tingles our emotions, thereby allowing the free flow of happiness. It decreases after some time

Similarly, we all do quite a lot of things so that we are liked by all, we do it, so that our stature in the society increases, and we are respected and recognized. This acknowledgment gives us that happiness. This is also temporary.

Understanding that it is temporary, we should change gears and move into the next realm of intellectual happiness. This will help us to stop doing things that will bring happiness for a temporary period thereby you get material freedom

Next in the intellectual realm, as you introspect, read, understand, and listen, a sense of satisfaction and understanding flows, helping the brain to decode the purpose of life, Its strength, weakness, wants, the measure of success and failures.

As you already have materialistic freedom, the happiness that is flowing through you is due to your intellect and not due to your wants. Here you help yourself and prepare yourself for your next move into the realm of bliss. Depending on individual requirements (in the intellectual realm your past accumulation of knowledge will also be taken into account, so the speed with which you move in this realm is based on this factor as well) you acquire enough skills and start the process of freeing yourself intellectually.

Once this intellectual freedom is complete, the person reaches the blissful state wherein the only ingredient is

unpolluted, unassuming, timeless happiness which we often refer to as “Mukthi “.
